I have been told to include the following text on this page, by order of
S. Erik Guthrie, Executive Director of the
International Laser Tag Association:
"In my pusuit to stay the UK's leading authority in lasertag, I also am the Technical Moderator for the International Laser Tag Association's Owner & Operator's Listserve. I do a damn fine job and will be playing tag with the one and only Erik in England, I mean, Erik in Indy."This is partially true. I am indeed the Technical Moderator for said mailing list - and, indeed, in the October of 1996, Erik in Indy himself declared me the ILTA's Regional Delegate for the UK - but in no way, shape or form am I the UK's leading authority in lasertag. I enjoy playing it, but am not nearly an authority.
UPDATED canoncial links page (apart from this one...?) :-)
My first love is Quasar though the rest of the world foolishly insists on calling it by the ungainly name Q-ZAR. I spent many a happy hour in Hartlepool becoming versed in the ways in the wonderful company of the Terminators; our career record was:
If I can't play Quasar then I will perfectly happily play Megazone - the original game to feature three teams, and with nice packs and guns. These are all the same game but sometimes with silly names...
An extremely interesting-sounding development is Darklight and I hope to give it a try before too long to see if it's everything it's cracked up to be. Sounds like it's got a lot of potential - but I'd like to compare it to Chromaburst and IQ.
Available in the US, and only in the US - as far as I know - is Photon which may possibly be the original arena laser sport available. Perhaps it's about to make a comeback? The Corporate Headquarters pages have some interesting information. There is also the soundtrack page. I like that soundtrack. Lots. Also possibly about to make an impact is the Actual Reality system.
Last, and very definitely least, is Laser Quest, but hey, it's still good fun, and it's all we've got here in Oxford. (sigh...)
